[PC Engine] R-TYPE

R-TYPE is, as I am sure you are aware of, a classic of side-scrolling shoot-em ups by IREM. When I first played this in the arcades as a kid, I thought it was really Macross-like due to the explosions and the spaceship designs. The original Japanese PC-Engine release was split into 2 games (R-TYPE I and R-TYPE II) and I only had the first one. For the US release for the TurboGrafx, it was released on 1 cart however a PC-Engine CD-Rom was released combining both parts plus some added cut-scenes and redone music.

R-TYPE は、ご存知のとおり、IREM による横スクロール シューティング ゲームの古典です。 子供の頃に初めてゲームセンターでプレイした時、爆発や宇宙船のデザインから本当にマクロスっぽいと思いました。 オリジナルの日本語版 PC エンジンは 2 つのゲーム (R-TYPE I と R-TYPE II) に分割され、最初の 1 つしか持っていませんでした。 TurboGrafx の米国でのリリースでは、1 つのカートでリリースされましたが、両方の部分に加えていくつかの追加カットシーンとやり直し音楽を組み合わせた PC エンジン CD-ROM がリリースされました。
